“He is touched when we tell Him there is more to do than can ever be done”
I extracted these words from a book I read by Max Lucado called, “No Wonder They Call Him Savior”, great book and easy read as well. It’s written to be understood by believers and nonbelievers alike so pick it up if you can. However I came across the statement mentioned above and it really just began to unfold revelation in my understanding. The book, as many of Lucado’s books paint very vivid images of Christ the man. It’s great to hear about Christ our saviour and His triumphant ascension to glory. Yet there is something that happens when we can catch a glimpse of Christ the man with flesh and blood like ours. To picture Jesus jamming a finger, or stubbing a toe, or his cloak getting snagged in some thorn bushes, getting frustrated by mosquitos, etc.. I don’t know, thoughts like these just put Him in our corner. Its incredible to understand that he felt just as we do and can sympathize with the push and pulls of emotions we experience on a daily basis.
I just remember thinking so many times with what I feel God has placed in me how can I accomplish this? Once I read the statement, “He is touched when we tell Him there is more to do than can ever be done”, I stopped and thought, “Wow, that’s it! That’s the point! It’s supposed to be more than can ever be done, were supposed to feel things are out of our control because they are. And your probably thinking, “ok how is that a good thing…?” It’s a good thing because Jesus had to save the world and he was flesh and blood just like us. Without going into the intricacies of what Christ accomplished in His life, death, and resurrection the main point is, He had to save the world! He had to convince men He was the son of God and the works He did were God inspired that they would believe in Him. In a span of three years He had to reconcile a people back unto God who had hardened their hearts through religion; the very institution designed to bring men to God! I remember asking myself internally, “when was the last time you had to take away the sins of the world?” Or better yet if you had to save the world in 3 years what would you do? Read more »
“After the birth of a human being, his early years are obscurely spent in the toils or pleasures of childhood. As he grows up, the world receives him, when his manhood begins, and he enters into contacts with his fellows. He is then studied for the first time, and it is imagined that the germ of vices and virtues of his maturer years is then formed. This, if I am not mistaken, is a great error. We must begin higher up; we must watch the infant in the mother’s arms; we must see the first images which the external world cast upon the dark mirror of his mind, the first occurrences which he witnesses; we must hear the first words which awaken the sleeping powers of thought, and stand by his earliest efforts,—if we would understand the prejudices, the habits, and the passions which will rule his life. The entire man is, so to speak, to be seen in the cradle of the child.”
Kuyper introduces the most basic revelation shared by all of humanity; that all things we see and understand have a beginning, and before we were, God was. And because God was, and because God is, we exist, and any and all activity we carry out is a result of His plan and/or, by His permission. When we have an electronic product that has malfunctioned we seek general assistance from someone more knowledgeable than us in the broad sphere of electronics. If their assistance fails we further refine our search to someone who may specialize in the specific category of our broken electronic product. If this effort fails, we continue to refine and extract all vagueness from our search in order to get as close as possible to the creator of the product as we can. Our motivation is to find a fix and the more refined, the closer we can get to the creator of our specified product, the higher the chance we can find the supreme fix. Mankind is broken and so are the faculties and systems we engage in on a daily basis. We must first be fixed and then we can adequately assess what is broken around us.
”For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” (1 Corin.2:11)
Henceforth, within the human soul is the desperate inclination to find a fix. In every facet of the human life we find ourselves seeking to fix, enhance, and recreate what is, in order to create something better and more efficient. Just as forensic lights reveal stains hidden to the naked eye on a crime scene, remnants of an eternal creators fingerprints are evident in our beings when truth shines its light on us, revealing; a creator was here.
Kuyper’s perspective reveals that every human aspiration and tendency has its origin in the mind of God and thus falls under the sovereignty of God. Kuyper’s ideas show through our collective progression and understanding in the areas of human life we continually work towards piecing together a puzzle that originated in God’s mind. Having a heart and calling in the arena of law, with an understanding of Kuyper’s perspective I am impressed with the responsibility to not be the end all be all of Justice, but to make the biggest contribution to the cause that will eventually point back to Him. As we progress in our ability to create Governments that serve the greater good of all, we gain the revelation we are not only doing God’ work but attempting to recreate His original thoughts and will. As I bear the burden for justice in an unjust world I realize I have a unique role to play to the whole, simply recycling His vision for justice originally translated to mankind.
The truth kuyper impresses upon the reader reveals despite the disarranged chaos seen in the world, God is very in control and only through the lens of His knowledge and truth can we steward adequately; for “there is no area of human life where Christ does not scream; mine!”
Not sure where to start here, but I’ll say my father is a great man. In a past blog I believe I stated if there was one word that exemplified my father it would be; Perseverance. He doesn’t give up no matter how much he’s taken under by the currents of life. My father and I have spent a lot of good times together and conversely we’ve also spent months and some times years apart. Nonetheless the relationship I have with my father is nothing short of a miraculous work of the grace, and the power of God. The older I grow the more I appreciate my father and realize how much God has uniquely placed answers in him to the questions I have and will have about life. No matter how much I hear praise from other men and women, there is nothing that compares to a father telling his son he’s proud of him. I woke up the other day to this poem my father wrote for me, my allergies was acting up a bit when I read it…
A Poem For Hulio
From a boy to a man, a bud to a rose.
A cocoon to a butterfly, that’s the way life grows.
Look in the mirror of your life, see where you’ve been.
The nights you’ve cried because of the pain turning over within.
The obstacles you’ve faced, the valleys you’ve crossed.
The victories you’ve won, the struggles you’ve lost.
Can you see how special you are when you look at that mirror?
A person who is so much to so many.
Can you see who you really are when you look in that mirror?
So much potential, so much love to share.
When you weren’t looking I looked inside your mind.
I saw a Goal Reacher, A Dream Conqueror, a Beautiful Mind.
I saw this quiet place filled with hope. An adventurer, not afraid of anything. I saw a child who just wanted to be loved.
I saw a beautiful mind.
From a boy to a man, a bud to a rose.
A cocoon to a butterfly, that’s the way life grows.
Look beyond the surface of the mirror to see.
Who you are and what your life is to be.
When you look into the glass know that God is there.
Know that your faith in Him removes all fear.
Know that you’ve got a ways to go, know that you’ve come a long way.
Learn to love the ones in the mirror a little more each day.
From a boy to a man, a son to a father, I suppose.
Let you light shine for the world to see, that’s the way life grows.
I LOVE YOU SON
